Learning French Can Be Fun As Well As Useful
Picking up a new language is something which many of us do for practical
reasons. Getting a new job or moving abroad are a couple of very strong
reasons for doing so but maybe you want to have a big of fun as well.
Here are some ideas for making the learning of a new tongue a bit more
entertaining.
Watch Kids Shows
Maybe this sounds a little silly, but children’s television shows are
actually great for anyone learning a new language. If you can get hold
of
French language versions of some programmes then you can pick up a
lot of words this way, as they are designed for people who are learning
new words after all. Some of them are great fun as well and listening to
them in your new language can be very interesting.
Take the Car
A road trip to France is a terrific way to learn some new words.
Driving over there from the UK isn’t too difficult and once you get used
to being on the opposite side of the road you should enjoy the
experience. Road signs and service stations will introduce you to new
phrases but be sure to do a bit of investigation before you go.
Make Some Friends
There are a large number of French people living in the UK and making
friends with one or more of them could give you the chance to learn a
lot more quickly and also pick up some French culture at the same time.
If you are in a reasonably big city then as you take
French lessons Nottingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and other UK cities of
this sort of size offer some good possibilities for finding residents
who speak the language.
Try a Quiz
There are some interesting online quizzes for people learning to
speak a foreign language and you could pass some time trying one out.
Once you are feeling more confident you might want to search the
internet for sites in French and see how you get on with a quiz or
competition which is aimed at expert speakers rather than those studying
it as a second language.
Make a Shopping Trip
If you are serious about your
French lessons London and other UK cities offer great access to
France. What better excuse for hopping over there than to go shopping?
There are lots of traditional markets all over the country and you can
practice what you have learned while making some great purchases as the
same time.
